My luck ran out and I finally got my scolding some days back . Greatly disappointed with myself and upset with what my dad said though some parts are true (but he's way too harsh) I deleted all my messages in my phone inbox since he cannot understand my need for personal space. So from now on, he shall not have the advantage to peek into my inbox though I allowed it in the past because I trust that he would respect me and not interrogate me about every message. [Can you imagine someone asking you what's happening and who sent what when he got to read it first? Or can you imagine someone forcing you to send nasty messages to your friends just because he doesn't like that friend? Imagination can become reality.]
So please, if you wish to talk to me or message a silly joke, do that before 3pm. After that, I may not have control over 'his' property. Fine.

Bless you.

I didn't get any huge scoldings so far.. haha. That's a relief but that doesn't mean that I'm not gonna do anything about my grades. This shall be a reminder to myself to pay more attention to some subjects. Like it or not, I'm gonna do it. ;) Yea baby, bring it on!

I have been trying to think of what course I want to enter after graduation. What I want may seem a little difficult to get into.. but I really don't know where I'm heading. Sigh.. I may have strengths that I'm not allowed to develop because of you-know-who. In a sense, I can't discover my potential =S I feel stupid at times because I'm doing what I don't want to do but know I can do it just to please you-know-who.

Yea, you may think that this is my own doing and only I can save myself. But isn't there a way where I can do what I'm 'destined' to do and not piss him off at the same time?

Keep me in prayers ok? =P Somehow, things will work out. They always do =]

‘How many babies do you want to have?’ Ya, that’s the question that my friend asked me while we were shelving some books. Haha, we were talking about some teacher who’s recently pregnant. So, the conversation just went on to that. Then I get people asking what kind of guy I’d want as a husband and when will I get married.. Marital issues that I didn’t seriously think about. Anyway, I’ll just try to answer my friends and myself on this post. And, if you are interested and think that you fit the description, we can be friends ;)

How many kids will I have?
Well, that’s kinda difficult to say. Because I don’t know how fertile I am and how my hubby is =P. It also depends on how many he wants to have. If he doesn’t, then we can just have some serious fun =P Assuming we are both fertile and willing, I guess 5 is really the maximum (financial constraints) I may consider adopting 2 kids if my hubby really loves them. =) One thing for sure, I hope I won’t have to raise my kids here.

What kind of qualities am I looking for in a life partner?
Someone who loves me for who I am.
Someone who respects me and gives me a little privacy.
Someone who’s equally intelligent if possible (I don’t wish anyone to have some form of control and manipulate our relationship)
Someone who loves to have fun but will be practical when there’s a need to.
Someone who will not abandon me when there’s trouble. (Meaning, we share our woes. Yea, I would too.)

I think that’s a lot to ask for already. So, I think that’s roughly what I want if it’s possible. If not, I won’t mind if he has at least 3 of the qualities ;)

When will I get married?
Not too sure. But I try to do so in 7 years time from now. [Meaning, 25 yrs old. We need time to get the babies! =D Yea, all done by 30 ;) ]

Ok, got to go!

Active learners tend to retain and understand information best by doing something active with it--discussing or applying it or explaining it to others. Reflective learners prefer to think about it quietly first.
"Let's try it out and see how it works" is an active learner's phrase; "Let's think it through first" is the reflective learner's response.
Active learners tend to like group work more than reflective learners, who prefer working alone.
Sitting through lectures without getting to do anything physical but take notes is hard for both learning types, but particularly hard for active learners.
If you always act before reflecting you can jump into things prematurely and get into trouble, while if you spend too much time reflecting you may never get anything done. haha i guess that's why i get into a lot of trouble all the time =P
How can active learners help themselves?
If you are an active learner in a class that allows little or no class time for discussion or problem-solving activities, you should try to compensate for these lacks when you study. Study in a group in which the members take turns explaining different topics to each other. Work with others to guess what you will be asked on the next test and figure out how you will answer. You will always retain information better if you find ways to do something with it.
How can reflective learners help themselves?
If you are a reflective learner in a class that allows little or no class time for thinking about new information, you should try to compensate for this lack when you study. Don't simply read or memorize the material; stop periodically to review what you have read and to think of possible questions or applications. You might find it helpful to write short summaries of readings or class notes in your own words. Doing so may take extra time but will enable you to retain the material more effectively.

Sensing learners tend to like learning facts, intuitive learners often prefer discovering possibilities and relationships.
Sensors often like solving problems by well-established methods and dislike complications and surprises; intuitors like innovation and dislike repetition. Sensors are more likely than intuitors to resent being tested on material that has not been explicitly covered in class.
Sensors tend to be patient with details and good at memorizing facts and doing hands-on (laboratory) work; intuitors may be better at grasping new concepts and are often more comfortable than sensors with abstractions and mathematical formulations.
Sensors tend to be more practical and careful than intuitors; intuitors tend to work faster and to be more innovative than sensors.
Sensors don't like courses that have no apparent connection to the real world; intuitors don't like "plug-and-chug" courses that involve a lot of memorization and routine calculations.
ya! hate calculations =[
Visual learners remember best what they see--pictures, diagrams, flow charts, time lines, films, and demonstrations. Verbal learners get more out of words--written and spoken explanations. Everyone learns more when information is presented both visually and verbally.
In most college classes very little visual information is presented: students mainly listen to lectures and read material written on chalkboards and in textbooks and handouts. Unfortunately, most people are visual learners, which means that most students do not get nearly as much as they would if more visual presentation were used in class. Good learners are capable of processing information presented either visually or verbally.
sad.. I belong to the majority

How can visual learners help themselves?
If you are a visual learner, try to find diagrams, sketches, schematics, photographs, flow charts, or any other visual representation of course material that is predominantly verbal. Ask your instructor, consult reference books, and see if any videotapes or CD-ROM displays of the course material are available. Prepare a concept map by listing key points, enclosing them in boxes or circles, and drawing lines with arrows between concepts to show connections. Color-code your notes with a highlighter so that everything relating to one topic is the same color.
How can verbal learners help themselves?
Write summaries or outlines of course material in your own words. Working in groups can be particularly effective: you gain understanding of material by hearing classmates' explanations and you learn even more when you do the explaining.

SEQUENTIAL AND GLOBAL LEARNERS
Sequential learners tend to gain understanding in linear steps, with each step following logically from the previous one. Global learners tend to learn in large jumps, absorbing material almost randomly without seeing connections, and then suddenly "getting it."
Sequential learners tend to follow logical stepwise paths in finding solutions; global learners may be able to solve complex problems quickly or put things together in novel ways once they have grasped the big picture, but they may have difficulty explaining how they did it.
Many people who read this description may conclude incorrectly that they are global, since everyone has experienced bewilderment followed by a sudden flash of understanding. What makes you global or not is what happens before the light bulb goes on. Sequential learners may not fully understand the material but they can nevertheless do something with it (like solve the homework problems or pass the test) since the pieces they have absorbed are logically connected. Strongly global learners who lack good sequential thinking abilities, on the other hand, may have serious difficulties until they have the big picture. Even after they have it, they may be fuzzy about the details of the subject, while sequential learners may know a lot about specific aspects of a subject but may have trouble relating them to different aspects of the same subject or to different subjects.

How can sequential learners help themselves?
Most college courses are taught in a sequential manner. However, if you are a sequential learner and you have an instructor who jumps around from topic to topic or skips steps, you may have difficulty following and remembering. Ask the instructor to fill in the skipped steps, or fill them in yourself by consulting references. When you are studying, take the time to outline the lecture material for yourself in logical order. In the long run doing so will save you time. You might also try to strengthen your global thinking skills by relating each new topic you study to things you already know. The more you can do so, the deeper your understanding of the topic is likely to be.

How can global learners help themselves?
If you are a global learner, it can be helpful for you to realize that you need the big picture of a subject before you can master details. If your instructor plunges directly into new topics without bothering to explain how they relate to what you already know, it can cause problems for you. Fortunately, there are steps you can take that may help you get the big picture more rapidly. Before you begin to study the first section of a chapter in a text, skim through the entire chapter to get an overview. Doing so may be time-consuming initially but it may save you from going over and over individual parts later. Instead of spending a short time on every subject every night, you might find it more productive to immerse yourself in individual subjects for large blocks. Try to relate the subject to things you already know, either by asking the instructor to help you see connections or by consulting references. Above all, don't lose faith in yourself; you will eventually understand the new material, and once you do your understanding of how it connects to other topics and disciplines may enable you to apply it in ways that most sequential thinkers would never dream of.

Yes, sharing works 2 ways (except for the case of dative bonds)
Today, I've learnt a life lesson when I interacted with my niece. She frowned and hugged a packet of sweets close to her chest and said, 'These are mine! I'm not going to share them with you!' I laughed haughtily and told her that I've got more and if she doesn't share hers, she's not gonna get mine. (Of course, I was just kidding, trying to lure her into sharing her sweets) Then, she retorted,' Fine! I'll just eat my own sweets!'
I was thinking, how could a little girl like her be so self-centered? I wasn't like that when I was her age. Yea, she's a smart girl compared to other 4 year olds..
After a while, I took out some sweets and she was looking intently at them. I gave one to sis and took out another for her to give my niece. But sis told me to give it to my niece on my own.. Initially, she won't have it and kept moving away from me until she gave up when she knew I was sincere.
Guess what? She offered me her new packet of sweets ^_^

The moral of the story is, I shouldn't have threatened not to give her my sweets initially. It will only make her think that I was selfish too. By giving her my sweets, she would learn what sharing means..

*Do as you wish others would do unto you

•Feb. 7: Archaeologists in northern Italy have discovered a couple buried more than 5,000 years ago, their arms still wrapped around each other in an embrace.
ROME - They died young and, by the looks of it, in love. Two 5,000-year-old skeletons found locked in an embrace near the city where Shakespeare set the star-crossed tale "Romeo and Juliet" have sparked theories the remains of a far more ancient love story have been found.
Archaeologists unearthed the skeletons dating back to the late Neolithic period outside Mantua, 25 miles south of Verona, the city of Shakespeare's story of doomed love.
Buried between 5,000 and 6,000 years ago, the prehistoric pair are believed to have been a man and a woman and are thought to have died young, because their teeth were found intact, said Elena Menotti, the archaeologist who led the dig.
"As far as we know, it's unique," Menotti told The Associated Press by telephone from Milan. "Double burials from the Neolithic are unheard of, and these are even hugging."
Archaeologists digging in the region have found some 30 burial sites, all single, as well as the remains of prosperous villages filled with artifacts made of flint, pottery and animal horns.
Although the Mantua pair strike an unusual and touching pose, archaeologists have found other prehistoric burials in which the dead hold hands or have other contact, said Luca Bondioli, an anthropologist at Rome's National Prehistoric and Ethnographic Museum.
Bondioli, who was not involved in the Mantua dig, said the find has "more of an emotional than a scientific value." But it does highlight how the relationship people have with each other and with death has not changed much from the period in which humanity first settled in villages, learning to farm the land and tame animals, he said.
"The Neolithic is a very formative period for our society," he said. "It was when the roots of our religious sentiment were formed."
Menotti said the burial was "a ritual, but we have to find out what it means."
Experts might never determine the exact nature of the pair's relationship, but Menotti said she had little doubt it was born of a deep sentiment.
"It was a very emotional discovery," she said. "From thousands of years ago we feel the strength of this love. Yes, we must call it love."
The couple's burial site was located Monday during construction work for a factory in the outskirts of Mantua. Alongside the couple, archaeologists found flint tools, including arrowheads and a knife, Menotti said.
Experts will now study the artifacts and the skeletons to determine the burial site's age and how old the two were when they died, she said. The finds will then go on display at Mantua's Archaeological Museum.
Establishing the cause of death could prove almost impossible, unless they were killed by a debilitating disease, a knife or something else that might have left marks on the bones, Menotti said.
Thoughts..
First: What a loving couple.
Second: What a foolish loving couple. Then again, they were young and innocent..
Third: Well, if they weren't foolish, this won't be news.
Fourth:What is this thing called love?
Fifth:Does it make you do foolish things?
Sixth:This isn't the only case. Maybe it was the culture then to die together? Maybe it was the 'in' thing to do. To prove how strong their love was. Till death do us continue this in the next part of our journey with no interruptions from parents.
Seventh: Is it worth it? What if he wasn't the right one? How sure are they about 'the other side?'
Ok.. guess I was just thinking useless stuff but =] just one last one, is it a selfish act to ask someone to die with you? Well you may say that life is worse than death without your loved one but even if the person is willing to, is it right?
Sigh..

A sad song that I like.. sometimes I want to run away too..
Lyrics to Ludacris Runaway Love[Hook - Mary J. Blige]
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
[Verse 1] Now little lisa is only 9 years old
tryin to figure out why the world is so cold
Why shes all all alone and they never met her family
Mamas always gone and she never met her daddy
Part of her is missin and nobody will listenin
Mama is on drugs gettin high up in the kitchen
Bringin home men at different hours of the night
Startin with laughs--usually endin in a fight
Sneak into her room while her mamas knocked out
Tryin to have his way and little lisa says 'ouch'
She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her
Tries to tell her mom but her mama don't believe her
Lisa is stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but some get some clothes and pack
She says shes bout to run away and never come back.
[Hook] Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
[Verse 2] Little nicole is only 10 years old
Shes steady tryin to figure why the world is so cold
shes not pretty and nobody seems to like her
Alcoholic step dad always wanna strike her
Yells and abuses, leaves her with some bruises
Teachers ask questions she makin up excuses
Bleedin on the inside, cryin on the out
Its only one girl really knows what she about
name is lil stacy and they become friends
Promise that they always be tight til the end
Until one day lil stacy gets shot
A drive by bullet went stray up on her block
Now nicole stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but some get some clothes and pack
She says shes bout to run away and never come back.
[Hook] Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
Runaway love
[Verse 3] Little erica is eleven years old
Shes steady tryin to figure why the world is so cold
So she pops x to get rid of all the pain
Cause shes havin sex with a boy whos sixteen
Emotions run deep and she thinks shes in love
So theres no protection hes usin no glove
Never thinkin bout the consequences of her actions
Livin for today and not tomorrows satisfaction
The days go by and her belly gets big
The father bails out he aint ready for a kid
Knowin her mama will blow it all outta proportion
Plus she lives poor so no money for abortion
Erica is stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that hell is a place called home
Nothin else to do but get her clothes and pack
She say shes about to run away and never come back.
[Hook] Runaway love [repeats til end]

Here's a notice that I saw on the first level of my HDB flat. Never mind the English.. the guy who wrote this was probably too tired to write properly.

To the party concerned

Kindly refrainfrom thumping at home. It is extremely annoying to be listening to the thumping the whole day even to the early morning like 3 plus in the morning.

If this continues, please note that the authority will be notified and the required actions be taken to stop you from doing this.

If you are the party concerned, please stop this immediately (maybe you don't need to sleep, but others to(do.. he spelt wrongly) Do spare a thought for others.

Very annoyed residents of Block 715
(composed at 3.38am and still hearing the thumping)

another resident scribbled: I heard it too!!! Very annoying!!!

Haha.. I actually added another comment on that paper.. 'I think the owner is overseas. He doesn't realise what is happening'

It's a good thing to sleep like a pig actually.. cos you won't be bothered by what thumping sound or ghost howling or cat meowing, whatever. ;) and I'm a piggy when it comes to sleep!

did a handwriting analysis.. red means doubtful blue means spot on ;)
For a graphologist, the spacing on the page reflects the writer's attitude toward their own world and relationship to things in his or her own space. If the inputted data was correct Sim has left some white space on the left side of the paper. Sim fills up the rest of the page in a normal fashion moving the entire writing rightward as she moves down the page. If this is true, then Sim has a healthy relationship to the past and is ready to move on. The right side of the page represents the future and Sim is ready and willing to get started living now and planning for the future. Sim is leaving the past behind and moving on to what she perceives as an exciting and enticing future.
Sim is very self-sufficient. She is trying not to need anyone. She is capable of making it on her own. She probably wants and enjoys people, but she doesn't "need" them. She can be a loner.
Sim is a practical person whose goals are planned, practical, and down to earth. This is typical of people with normal healthy self-esteem. She needs to visualize the end of a project before she starts. she finds joy in anticipation and planning. Notice that I said she plans everything she is going to do, that doesn't necessarily mean things go as planned. Sim basically feels good about herself. She has a positive self-esteem which contributes to her success. She feels she has the ability to achieve anything she sets her mind to. However, she sets her goals using practicality-- not too "out of reach". She has enough self-confidence to leave a bad situation, yet, she will not take great risks, as they relate to her goals. A good esteem is one key to a happy life. Although there is room for improvement in the confidence catagery, her self-perception is better than average.
Because Sim has zigzag'ed shaped 'm' and 'n' hump, Sim is an analytical thinker. Her mind sifts and examines facts. She interprets all facts by separating them, breaking them down, and organizing them from a critical point of view. This pattern of clarifying facts contributes to her strong reasoning ability. Sim's mind is constantly analyzing all situations that she encounters.
Sim has an over-awareness of self. She often feels self-conscious. She fears ridicule, therefore she is careful not to place herself in a position to receive any ridicule. She wonders what people will think if she acts in a certain manner. When encountering a new group of people, Sim may stay on the sidelines until she has the people categorized, or she may behave in a "positive attention getting" manner to assure people think good thoughts about her from the start. In the sales profession, this self-consciousness is called "call reluctance". They take the word "no" as a personal criticism. Therefore, there is an internal struggle when performing this type of work. Although this person may be a great salesperson, she still feels insecurity. She will perform better if someone else is with her because the fear of ridicule from her peers is far greater than the fear of ridicule from her clients. Many times this type of person becomes a sales trainer, because when she is training, she doesn't have to put herself in a position of being told "no" as often as the salesmen do.
Sim is talkative. She enjoys talking and socializing. She may talk when there is absolutely nothing important to say. She enjoys speaking.
Sim uses judgment to make decisions. She is ruled by her head, not her heart. She is a cool, collected person who is usually unexpressive emotionally. Some may see her as unemotional. She does have emotions but has no need to express them. She is withdrawn into herself and enjoys being alone. The circumstances when Sim does express emotions include: extreme anger, extreme passion, and tremendous stress. If someone gets her mad enough to tell her off, she will not be sorry about it later. She puts a mark in her mind when someone angers her. She keeps track of these marks and when she hits that last mark she will let them know they have gone too far. She is ruled somewhat by self-interest. All her conclusions are made without outside emotional influence. She is very level-headed and will remain calm in an emergency situation. In a situation where other people might get hysterical, she has poise. Sim will work more efficiently if given space and time to be alone. She would rather not be surrounded by people constantly. In a relationship, she will show her love by the things she does rather than by the things she says. Saying "I love you" is not a needed routine because she feels her mate should already know. The only exception to this is if she has logically concluded that it is best for her mate to hear her express her love verbally. Sim is not subject to emotional appeals. If someone is selling a product to her, they will need to present only the facts. They should present them from a standpoint of her sound judgment. She will not be taken in by an emotional story about someone else. She will meet emergencies without getting hysterical and she will always ask "Is this best for me?"

Don't Let Me Get Me Lyrics
by Pink
Never win first place, I don't support the team
I can't take direction, and my socks are never
clean
Teachers dated me, my parents hated me
I was always in a fight cuz I can't do nothin'
right
Everyday I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person starin' back at me
I'm a hazard to myself

Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else
I wanna be somebody else, yeah
LA told me, "You'll be a pop star,
All you have to change is everything you are."
Tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears
She's so pretty, that just ain't me
Doctor, doctor won't you please prescribe
somethin
A day in the life of someone else?
Cuz I'm a hazard to myself
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else
Doctor, doctor won't you please prescribe
somethin
A day in the life of someone else?
Don't let me get me
Don't let me get me
I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
I wanna be somebody else

I'm in a dilemma.. On normal days, I would love PE. It does help me destress sometimes. But for now, I just hate it. Not because of the exercises I get but because of what happens after the lesson. It's causing my skin condition to worsen.. Never has it been so serious. It keeps getting dried up and peels off frequently.. can you imagine the pain, especially when it comes to bathing (which is my favourite pastime and now my worse nightmare?) This would be my last time taking the fitness exam.. Should I just try to carry on with it? Even though I'm so stressed about it? :'( I feel like crying. This thing just keeps coming and the irritaion is immense just after lesson. Why go through so much torture..? Should I? Sigh..

Conceptualize Your Purpose
When you look at the lives of the most successful people who ever lived, you can see that they had a definite purpose and they knew it. Some examples are: Christ - His purpose was spiritual, and stated in John 10:10, which reads: "I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly."
Walt Disney’s purpose: "To make people happy."
Dr. R. Buckminster Fuller’s purpose: "Humanity’s comprehensive welfare on spaceship earth."
Henry Ford’s purpose: "To mass produce, mass distribute and have cars mass consumed."
Andrew Carnegie’s purpose: "To manufacture and market steel."
Mother Teresa’s purpose: "To care for and comfort the poor, sick and needy all over the world."
I don’t want you to confuse a purpose with a goal. Goals are great! I teach goal setting, and believe it is crucial to achieving any kind of success. But goals alone, left by themselves, can be indiscriminate and undirected. We can have hundreds of goals (and I hope you do), but we may only have one purpose that we work for our entire life. That purpose should be the underlying core that gives our goals direction and meaning.
Discovering your purpose will put your life into crystal-clear perspective. You won’t see the world you once knew. You will see another world, one in which you are a necessary and intricate spoke in the wheel.

The saddest places on earth are graveyards. Not because people are buried there, but because dreams, talents and purposes that never came to fruition are buried there. Graveyards are filled with books that were never written, songs that were never sung, words that were never spoken, things that were never done.
You have talents and gifts that no one else can offer. There are things you can do that no one else is capable of doing quite the way YOU can do them. Don’t rob this earth of your purpose by taking it to the grave with you. You see, we all have a purpose, a reason for living, breathing and existing. We all have unique talents and gifts that were created and given to us to be shared. Our task is to understand this and figure out what our purpose is. We owe it to the Universe AND to ourselves!
"You will become as small as your controlling desire, or as great as your dominant aspiration."

5 days since I last blogged and it feels like forever. Thank goodness the bio lecture test is over. If it dragged on further, I wonder if I'd become a national treasure => panda =_= yea.. I'm quite drained for now. But I know it's worse for my peers who have cca orientations, competitions and whatnots.. So I'm considered lucky since I still get to watch 'War and Beauty' and finish studying for the test today with most of the content still in my head. By the way, go catch 'War and Beauty' on Channel U 10pm every weekday! It's a great show and well, I'm obviously addicted. =] It's a good way to destress after a long day and I just love the cast.
Loving GP more than ever though I'm not under Alvin anymore. Still, life seems to be getting better and more interesting [if you minus the workload and expectations]
I thought I was going to have a math talk on Probability today. It was so interesting that I decided to go for it though I'm not an ardent fan of mathematics. Guess what? The lecturer lost his way.. [what a loser. oops!] I mean, how big is Singapore? =_= and so I did not get to learn the best way to choose a husband and wasted some time.
Sigh, I hate to say this but I'm so unfit! Worse thing is, Dad doesn't really like the idea of me running around outside the house.. Oh wells, I'll do something about it =] (though I would really really reallly love to have that 'Flabeloss'!)
ok.. I should get some sleep =_= *yawns

Au revoir!

I hate periods. yea.. the kind that girls get =_=.. Why is it so troublesome for girls? Why do we need to have those monthly trauma? It's not that I'm having it now and complaining ok..You get the moodswings, PMS, cramps, got to change that you-know-what.. it's all so sickening. =_= so guys, it's not so easy being a girl. Especially when you need to constantly keep a lookout and check that there's no trace of.. you-know-what behind.

I just can't trust you. Every cell in my body says you're scheming. I just want you to leave me alone. ='[
